  • My Alpha Kai Grub

*Update* For some reason the photos don't seem to be working...but if you click on the icon that says "image not found" it will load up the picture...odd...*

Hey everyone. Hope you all are having a good weekend. Weekends are God's gift to Man; seriously, having two days to sleep in is probably the best thing ever.

Anyway, I went to Alpha Kai Omega's Grub on Friday. The theme was "Who's Behind That Mask?" Here's some pictures of the event.

This is me and Rachel, she took me as her date. She's the, for lack of knowledge of Alpha Kai, Sibling Father for Alpha Kai. She's the nice one.

Holy crap Dr. Money was there! That was probably the coolest s*** ever, seeing him walk in with a shotgun

That's Kristin, we've been friends for a couple of years but she's in nursing school so we don't really get to hang out that much. Not sure who she's supposed to be.

All in all, Grub was a lot of fun. As for me, nothing much has changed over the last week or so. I'm pretty much just waiting for pledging to be over, for Christmas to get here so I can be with my family, and for Sing Song to start.

    Krunk.

Hope all is well, take care.

  • My Bid Night Round Three

Hey guys. It's been a while. How have you been? As for me, I've been busy with pledging and being Sibling Father. It's funny to look back on the last couple of years to see where my life has taken me. Just a little over two years ago I was at the University of Houston with one real friend, and just not feeling very happy about life in general.

Looking at life now, I have many relationships with men and women who I care deeply for. I went from hating pledging to being one of the strongest supporters of it. Have I been brainwashed? Possibly; however, I like to look at it as simply seeing all the good that can come from it. The people I've met, the relationships I've formed, the things I've experienced, being part of something bigger than myself, and learning some insane time management skills are just a few of the many blessings in my life I've received from pledging.

We ended up having forty-six siblings (pledges) this semester, which is a monster pledge class. We had forty-three when I pledged, and twenty-eight last year; so forty-six is a pretty good number to say the least. Here's some picture from bid night if you're curious.

Bryan Elrod. Chaplain. He decided after being in the military and killing 35 people that being Chaplain for a social club was the route to go.

Richard and Josh thinking "thank God we're on the other side of this crap."

About five minutes into watermelons. I feel bad for those guys up there

"Booty Call," is not as hot as it sounds here.

Ok so enough pictures of people suffering. Let's move on to happier stuff, like GSP Grub! Grub is an event where the pledge class puts on entertainment and a meal for the members. The entertainment is always kind of funny, but people boo the pledges anyway...

People just wandering around after they've eaten. Members and Siblings and dates.

Zach on the left. Originally he had his shirt off...not sure what his costume was. Houston (on the right) is one of my roommates and his girlfriend forced him to go to Grub as Obama. Houston hates Obama. Hence his upset face, haha.

Patrick (roommate, and guy on left) went as an Arsenal soccer player with his date, and Dylan (right) went as a blind man........he's kind of insensitive like that....

My date, Jamie, and I went as GI Joe and Gi Jane. Hawt. I'm not sure who Bryce and English (yes that's her real name) went as but that's a legit shotgun....

Holly and Andi were there! Both are pledging Kojies right now, and are very sweet girls. They're at the house almost every day baking baked goods...I swear they're trying to destroy my thighs.

"How long do I have to smile, Ryan??"

Grub was a lot of fun. Again it's more fun being on the other side of grub, because you just show up and everything is magically set up and good to go. I'll try to post more often. But most of my life right now is pledging and I can't really take pictures and post those without unveiling some secrets so...I'll just have to figure it out.

    Take care everybody!

  • My Last Summer

Well...it has been quite a while since I've posted anything. I'm fairly positive that zero people in the world read this other than me when I want to feel sentimental.

A lot has happened since my last post. Let's break it down:

    1) We Won Sing Song!! That was so krunk! Probably one of the coolest feelings I have had in a long time

    2) Just before spring break I was elected into office for GSP as the Sibling Father. It's one of the "Big Four" offices in club. We call them (the President, Vice President, Master Sergeant, and Sibling Father) the "Big Four" because they're the four executive officers who not only have duties within club but also meet with the Administrative part of the ACU faculty who oversee clubs. My job is to plan and coordinate the rush activities, and then once pledging starts I am supposed to be the nice guy who makes sure that no one de-pledges.

    3) I went to Disney World in May!

    4) Still single...

So anyway, I'm at home this summer for probably the last time. I've been talking/e-mailing this actuary firm out in London about possibly coming out there for an internship next summer. Hopefully that will all work out.

I'm tired and I'm going to bed. There will be a legitimate update with pictures tomorrow!

    Peace,

    Cam

  • My Sing Song

Holy crap...has it really been since May of 2008 that I've posted anything?

I guess time flies when you get distracted with other things, like television, trying to survive Junior year of college, living off campus, being on the other side of pledging for a change, and having a social life.

Whew...so let's just skip the part where I tell you the stuff you already know and just get to what's happening now.

The Spring semester started this Monday,  and so far I'm loving it. My Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays start off with Linear Algebra at 8 am, followed by Differential Equations at 10 am. Then comes the glorious ceremony of chapel...that is still just lots of fun (read: sarcasm)

After that I have Microeconomics with two of my roommates, Patrick and Ryan, and that honestly is a lot of fun. Right after Micro I head over to the music building for my Piano Class! That's right ladies and gentlemen, I felt that I wasn't spending enough money at ACU so I registered for a course I don't even need to graduate.

It's real cool though; the class is mostly meant for people who haven't ever played the piano so it should be an easy A.

My Tuesdays and Thursdays are freakin' sweet because all I have is Managereal(?) Accounting at 8 am. After that I am done for the whole day.

We started our first Sing Song practice tonight (Wednesday), and it was so tight. It's a lot of fun being with all of club and doing homoerotic choreography and singing together...It seriously is just so gay (not that there's anything wrong with that right?) but so much fun.

What's cool is I've been tapped to teach the basses their part with the aid of a keyboard, and when we all get together to sing I play the keyboard to make sure were all singing the right notes. Pretty sweet gig for me if I do say so myself.

Sing Song--by the way-- is the weekend of my birthday! The main performance is Saturday, February 21st. My 21st birthday is on the 22nd, so if you want to watch us win Sing Song and sip on an Appletini Sunday afternoon the come on up to A-Town!

I've actually gone to church two time a week since I've been back as well. I've been going to Southern Hills Church of Christ on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights; and I actually like going so that's a welcome change.

I would upload some pictures but I'm having severe issues with iPhoto right now (thanks Steve Jobs).

As for me, I'm going to bed.

  • My Trip

Been a long time I know! I'm leaving in a couple of hours with my friend Sheila to go back up to Abilene for the weekend. I'm basically just going there to hang out with friends and work on the house, and more importantly kill time till summer school starts...

I'll have my camera there so there should be plenty of pictures.
